Why is xp closeing programs
At first, I liked the simplicity, but do not appreciate that it has slowed down my computer and is shutting down some of my programs or causing them to work improperly. I am having the same issue on my fathers laptop after updating to Windows 10 from 8. Its a Lenovo B system. The Shutdown appears and disappears randomly sometime multiple times in succession and if I open folders or windows it will close them after around seconds by itself.
A lot of windows system programs were doing it yesterday. I installed updates and then facebook after that. Closed program 5 secs after I opened it. Thank you for getting back and keeping us posted on this query.

If you continue experiencing problems with an app, this tool can automatically identify and fix some problems with apps and the Store. Hi, I am having a similar problem. I installed Windows 10 a few days ago on my laptop and whenever I try to open certain programs and files particularly when using file manager my screen flashes black for a second and everything closes and I'm taken back to my home screen.
No error message, just a constant return to the home screen every seconds after I open file manager. Home screen also appears to be automatically refreshing regularly. It is driving me nuts. I have tried everything suggested in this thread so far - sfc scan, DISM and apps troubleshooter - everything comes back clear yet the problem persists. Any suggestions? My original problem remains though. This part of the dialog box looks a bit different from the one in Windows 9X, in that it provides more detail about the programs listed.
It works the same way as the old Windows 9X version, however. For some applications, this is a single Remove button. If prompted, confirm that you want to continue to uninstall the application. Answer any other prompts the uninstall utility presents for removing the program. Some programs, such as Microsoft Word, may require you to insert the original installation disks or CD to perform the uninstall. After the uninstall routine is completed, click the Close button to close the Add or Remove Programs utility.
If this is the case, you have to delete these icons manually. If the program you want to remove does not have an automatic uninstall utility, you have to delete the program's files manually, using My Computer. The problem with trying to delete a program in this way is that miscellaneous files associated with the program are often scattered throughout various folders on your hard disk.
